Leadership and how I've shown it:

This spoken word collective was co founded by Abigail Hutchison and Connor Brown in partnership with UNESCO city of literature and Nottingham Playhouse as a call to action for more creative spaces within Nottingham. The collective itself is run by young people with the aim to give other young and emerging artists an opportunity to simply be.
Whether that be through performance or simply having a space to breathe and relax, Speak Easy is all about just that: speaking easily and freely without fear of judgement and pressure.
When everything else seems challenging we want to be that one thing that feels easy.
A home away from home.

CORE VALUES:

At Speak Easy we are passionate about the Arts. The collective was born from a desire to promote change and opportunity. Therefore, we recognise that passion is something that drives the collective an ensures it is able toboth survive and continue to grow.

Inclusivity-
Inclusivity is at the core of what we do at Speak Easy, it is not an afterthought and instead is inrisically incorpirated in the ethos of our working groups and organisation team. This is reflected in many ways within our events including: safe space rooms and only using venues that are wheelchair friendly.

Honesty-
We promise to be honest. Whether that be on our social medias when promoting oppurtunity or within our events when/ if things don't go our way. We understand that our brand and our events are built on community and it is our duty to be both honest and transparent. This ethos also extends to fair pay for all our guest poets and artists.
